Through the Trees 1
This collage piece was inspired by the landscape that is revealed and concealed looking through winter trees. The colours echo cold blue winter skies reflected in the lakes and rivers contrasted with the warm browns and rusts of bark and bracken.
Based on a linen background the layers comprise photographs and print on tracing paper together with print on recycled curtain lining, silk and abaca tissue. Prints were created with both collagraph and polystyrene print blocks. Finally, the layers were handstitched together and then stitched onto a stretched canvas.
